Policymaking and People’s Happiness: Do we need a new social contract?

Countries in every continent today are hurtling head-on into an era where technology has not just rapidly transformed every key aspect of livelihood but the world imperatives of politics, geography, climate and economy have also brought insurmountable pressures on governance.

The speed of information has most certainly brought about a great technologisation to seed population unrest and raise the voice of the people as well as ideals of social compact and more.

Do policies and resulting outcomes rewrite the happiness index for people? In this special edition of Asia Thinker Series, we ask our experts at LKYSPP from various fields of research to dive into this conversation to discuss whether policymaking can affect the way people live and their quality of lives in a much more profound way than ever before and try to unpack a couple of the hard questions.
